Christian Fellowship Church seeks a Director/Pianist to lead our worship music, lead and direct our choirs, on 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays (4th Sundays are youth Sunday).


  • Must be able to play piano
  • Ability to sight read music and play the music as written, as well as improvise including Contemporary Gospel and Contemporary Christian (CCM) music
  • 3 years' experience in directing and playing
  • Able to play the organ is a plus
  • Strong vocal ability a plus


Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. On Sunday, there's a brief warm-up rehearsal from 10 to 10:25 AM. The service starts at 10:30 and ends at 12:00. It's basically singing the hymns, the Offering Anthem, doxology, 2 choir selections. and other very short selections of your choice

St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Christian Church seeks an organist to play our 2 manual Allen Quantum organ for weekly rehearsals, 1 Sunday service a week, special church services, youth choir rehearsals, concert, and weddings. As a musician, it is preferred (not required) the organist have a degree in music, Liturgical experience. accompaniment experience, good site reading skills, dependable, diligent in preparation. This position reports to the Music Director of the parish.

Weekly Duties:

  • Choir Rehearsals once a week. (Typically on Thursdays, 7pm-9pm)
  • Sunday Services (Service begins at 9:50am - 12pm)
  • Rehearsal with Youth Choir (Generally Sundays from 12:20pm-1:30pm)
  • Some extra services may include, Holy Week, Christmas Eve or Day, and other Major Feast days of the church.
  • Provide organ music for weddings as scheduled and accompany Chanter. A separate fee is given for this service.

La Mesa First United Methodist Church has an immediate opening for a part-time Organist/Pianist accompanist. We are looking for a Christian person with an understanding of music ministry as an element of the worship life of a congregation. Qualifications include a degree in music or equivalent and proficiency on the piano/keyboard as well as the organ.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide organ/piano music for Sunday worship services (8:30 and 10:30).
  • Attend Thursday night choir rehearsals for the purpose of accompaniment as needed.
  • Choose appropriate organ/piano music for preludes, offertories and postludes in cooperation with the Director of Music.
  • Provide organ/piano music for other special or seasonal worship services or concerts, i.e., Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (when Christmas falls on a Sunday), Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Shrove Tuesday, Pops Concert in June. Dress rehearsals on Friday evenings prior to Sunday concerts.
  • Will work collaboratively with Jill Coady, Director of Music, in short and long-term planning.
  • Accompanist skills should be at an advanced level with the ability to improvise on hymn tunes highly desired.
  • Accompany other choral/solo and instrumental ensembles as needed and as available.
  • Arrange a substitute when unable to be present providing notification to the Director of Music in a timely manner.
  • Prepare appropriate music for weddings and funerals. (1st right of refusal). Compensation extra for these events.
  • Oversee maintenance of the organ and piano.
  • The ability to conduct the choir in the absence of the Director of Music is also preferred.
  • Participate in the recruitment of soloists and ensembles.

Hours per week:

  • 12 hours to include: Sundays – 7:45-11:45 am. Thursdays – 6:15-9:30 pm.

San Carlos United Methodist Church has a long and rich tradition of worship through music and is currently seeking an Accompanist to play piano/organ for weekly rehearsals, Sunday services, special concerts and funerals/memorial services. Director of Music-Choir Director-Organist

St. John Chrysostom Episcopal Church seeks a Director of Music/Choir Director/Organist to lead our worship music, lead and direct our choir, and set a vision for our music program in concert with the Vicar—Estimate 15 hrs per week.

The organ at St. John's is a Custom 3 manual Rogers Trillium Masterpiece digital organ with 4 ranks of pipes and 108 digital stops installed in 2008, and we desire someone who can engage this instrument to its full capacity.

Weekly duties include:

  • Service music and anthem planning with the Vicar.
  • Choir rehearsal-currently Sunday 8:30AM before 10AM service. Potential for a midweek rehearsal or other special rehearsals as dictated by the Church season. Piano rehearsal accompanist provided.
  • Play organ for prelude, service music and postlude for 10AM service every Sunday.
  • Plan and direct choir anthem(s) each Sunday with accompaniment on piano by our accompanist or on the organ by the Director of Music.
  • Plan music for and prepare choir for Choral services during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week and Easter. This may entail added rehearsals as needed.
  • Provide organ music for funerals and weddings as scheduled, separate fee for these services.


  • Parttime position, compensation $30,000- $35,000 based on capacity to fulfill all the required duties and expectations.

Baritone Section Leader

Baritone Section Leader needed to sing in a very small but dedicated and friendly choir. This position is ideal for a student or retiree.

Good sight-reading is desired, but not necessary.  The music repertoire ranges from traditional to contemporary.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday nights from 6:15 to 7:30 PM.  On Sunday, there's a brief warm-up rehearsal from 9 to 9:20 AM.  The service starts at 9:30 and ends at 10:45.  It's basically singing the hymns, the Offering Anthem, and a short Introit song before the service starts.  The songs are fun, with good arrangements, and are not too challenging.

There are additional services such as Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday (Maundy Thursday), Good Friday, Christmas Eve.  These are short, 1-hour services but are not mandatory.  There is no Christmas Day service unless it falls on a Sunday morning.  There would also be opportunities to sing a solo or duet now and then during the year or to Cantor, leading the congregation with the liturgical music (not required).

Pay is per event: $35 per rehearsal and $35 per Sunday service (averaging about $70 weekly for both events).

Section Leaders

Christ Church, Coronado is seeking two section leaders, a soprano and a tenor to assist on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings, as well as Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and other occasions, as needed. The positions are available now.

These are not soloist positions. Candidates should be experienced choral singers with excellent reading skills, and a schedule that will accommodate regular attendance. The usual commitment is Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30, and Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 11:30. The Sunday sung service is at 10:00 A.M. The choir director is Michael Morgan, who is well known in San Diego as an accomplished educator, musician and a dynamic conductor.

Currently, the stipend is $20.60 per hour for 2.5 hours on Thursday and 2.5 hours on Sunday. Payroll is processed twice monthly.
